Transformational Leadership May Boost Employee Well-Being

EHS Today has championed the concept of transformational leadership for years. Now, a study published in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM)’s Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine also indicates that this leadership style is associated with increased employee well-being. “A transformational leadership style, which conveys a sense of trust and meaningfulness and individually challenges and develops employees, could lead to greater employee well-being,” according to the new research by Christine Jacobs of University of Cologne and colleagues. The 2013 recipients of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Awards of Excellence are Richard F. Sesek, Ph.D., CSP, CPE, and John S. Vidyo selected by CERN to connect 20,000 scientists for global collaboration on physics research

CERN control room CERN’s Vidyo infrastructure has the scalability and capacity to hold collaboration sessions with hundreds of participants in a single video conference. Scientists around the world are using Vidyo’s products to collaborate on Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments, whose research includes the study of the Higgs boson. On any given day, 3000 CERN-related video connections may occur over Vidyo systems, some of the meetings are hosting hundreds of users in a single call joining from a variety of personal desktops, mobile devices and room systems.
